Former Dodgers Retired Pitcher Says There’s ‘More Left in the Tank’

It’s always interesting to check in on some of the ex-Dodgers — even if they at one time were not as productive as the fan base would’ve liked them to be.
After a very rough NLDS versus the Arizona Diamondbacks a few years ago, pitcher Lance Lynn would certainly fit into this category. He gave up 16 homers in 11 games after being acquired by the Dodgers. For good measure, Lynn then allowed four more in 2.2 innings against NL West rival Arizona.

Now 37 years of age, Lynn recently retired, but not for a lack of trying to find a new job. He spoke about his journey in potentially continuing his time in the big leagues with MLB Network Radio.
“To be honest with you, there’s more left in the tank,” Lynn said. “All the money is dried up around the league it seems like. I didn’t like the things I was being offered.”
With a lack of a real offer, Lynn revealed why he ended up retiring with the St. Louis Cardinals — the team he began his career with.
“I was just, it was time to go,” Lynn said. “I get to end my career as a St. Louis Cardinal the way I started it. There were a lot of different variables. You didn’t know what this year would entail, either. Number one thing is, the money wasn’t there and it couldn’t make me leave the house. Plain and simple.”
For his career, Lynn finishes with a 143-99 career record in 13 seasons. This includes a 3.74 ERA and two All-Star appearances.
