Ohtani announced in late December that he and his wife were expecting were expecting their first child.
“Can’t wait for the little rookie to join our family soon!” the Instagram caption said.
Now, the moment has come for Ohtani to officially become a father.
Outfielder Eddie Rosario, who was spotted at Globe Life Field on Friday, is replacing Ohtani on the active roster for the time being.
Roberts did say it’s possible Ohtani rejoins the Dodgers before the end of their three-game series this weekend.
Ohtani’s child hasn’t arrived yet, but as they anticipate the birth, Ohtani stayed back in Los Angeles and didn’t travel with the team to Texas.
The Dodgers will still need to clear a 40-man roster spot for Rosario. It remains to be seen what that move is.
Dodgers Nation wishes its congratulations to the Ohtani family.
