Dodgers News: Tyler Glasnow's Big Offseason Change Already Seems to Be Paying Off

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow is determined to pitch in the postseason. In 2024, Glasnow was poised to lead the starting rotation in October, but was ultimately sidelined by a sprained elbow.

This spring, Glasnow arrived at Camelback Ranch with one goal mind: Staying healthy. In an effort to reach that goal in 2025, the right-hander tweaked how he leverages his 6-foot-8 frame down the mound and where he’s positioned when his front foot plants before he throws a pitch.

Glasnow made his first start of the 2025 season at the end of March against the Atlanta Braves. He pitched five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks while fanning eight. Glasnow’s performance helped the Dodgers earn a 6-1 win.

“I think it’s the least I’ve thought mechanically in a long time,” he said afterward. “I feel athletic and free and good.”

Manager Dave Roberts spoke about the challenges Glasnow faced with his mechanics, and how he was hoping to evade those bumps this season.

“I think with Tyler, my opinion is he gets too mechanical at times and not let his natural athleticism and compete kind of drive his outing,” Roberts said. “I think this spring, that’s where he’s been. He’s freed himself up a lot more this spring.”

When Glasnow was put to the test in his season debut, it was evident the changes he made at camp paid dividends.

Glasnow, 31, produced a 3.49 ERA and a 9-6 record in his first season wearing Dodger blue. He threw a career-high 168 strikeouts across 134 innings. It was exactly the type of performance the Dodgers had hoped for when they traded for him and spent $136.5 million on an extension in December 2023.

In 2025, Glasnow hopes to replicate another stellar performance, not only in the regular season but also in October.
