Dodgers Stars Want to Represent Team USA at World Baseball Classic

In correspondence with the 2026 World Baseball Classic Pool Groups being announced, there has been no shortage of interest from players hoping to represent their home nations.
One of those players happens to be Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow.

The 6-foot-8 hurler for the Dodgers appeared on the Foul Territory show Monday morning. Aaron Judge announced his intentions to represent Team USA in the illustrious tournament earlier in the day. It’s expected that three of Glasnow’s current teammates — Shohei Ohtani, Roki Sasaki, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto — will all play for Team Japan.
As it pertains to Glasnow, he’s not been shy about his desires to pitch for Team USA next year, saying he wants to compete “extremely bad.”
Glasnow, 31, is in the proverbial prime of his career. Thus far in 2025, he’s off to an uneven start — compiling a 4.85 ERA in three starts.
While the Philadelphia Phillies roughed him up for five earned runs in 2.0 innings on the road, both of Glasnow’s home starts have been spectacular. In a combined 11.0 innings versus the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves, Glasnow has allowed only five hits and two earned runs while striking out 15 batters.
A handful of Dodgers in addition to the ones named above could represent their home countries in the event. Freddie Freeman has represented his parents’ home country of Canada in the past. Teoscar Hernandez may be in play for the Dominican Republic. Theoretically, Team USA can call upon Blake Treinen, Blake Snell, Will Smith, and Tanner Scott as potential options.
Another one for Team USA to choose (which seems like a virtual certainty at this point) is Mookie Betts.
Betts said he “absolutely” would want to take part in the event. “I think any player would want to do it,” he added.
With Glasnow’s pure stuff, he certainly should be in contention as a starting pitcher option. The competition figures to be stiff when delving into the options Team USA has to its disposal.
Aside from Glasnow and Snell, Team USA can opt to use the likes of Paul Skenes, Zack Wheeler, Cole Ragans, Corbin Burnes, Hunter Greene, Logan Webb, Tarik Skubal, and Garrett Crochet, among others.
